{"id":1758,"date":"2013-08-31T10:12:49","date_gmt":"2013-08-31T10:12:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/rs\/en\/mosque-kitchen-open-doors-to-scots\/"},"modified":"2013-08-31T10:12:49","modified_gmt":"2013-08-31T10:12:49","slug":"mosque-kitchen-open-doors-to-scots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/r-islam.com\/en\/mosque-kitchen-open-doors-to-scots\/","title":{"rendered":"Mosque Kitchen Open Doors to Scots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-1757\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost\/rs\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/08\/mousque%20rest.jpg\" border=\"0\" width=\"428\" height=\"283\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">EDINBURGH \u2013 Setting up a unique model, a Scottish mosque has opened the doors of its restaurant, planned to serve Muslim worshippers, to welcome non-Muslim visitors too after 9\/11 attacks, proving a success in Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">It used to open every Friday after prayers where we used to sell chicken and rice for \u00a32<\/span>,&#8221; <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Mubashar Ali<\/span>, the manager of the Mosque Kitchen in Edinburgh, told The BBC on Wednesday, August 28.<\/p>\n<p>Opening its doors in the 80s, the Mosque Kitchen in Edinburg used to cater just for its congregation.<\/p>\n<p>After 9\/11 attacks in New York, the mosque managers decided to open its doors to non-Muslims too to offer them a closer interaction with Muslims and dispel myths about their faith.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After 9\/11, an exhibition was set up in the mosque to raise awareness about Islam which attracted people from all faiths including Christians, Hindus and Sikhs,\u201d Ali, who has been working in the restaurant since its inception, said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">It was at the same time that people became aware of the little kitchen serving food to its worshippers.<\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As time went on, the Mosque Kitchen proved a success among Edinburgh local citizens.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">We wanted to show people that Islam is not about terror and so we extended the restaurant and started opening every day and also began welcoming people from other faiths<\/span>,&#8221; Ali said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At first people were a bit scared and hesitant but it didn&#8217;t take long for it to become a popular local curry house,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Scotland is home to more than 500,000 Muslims, making up less than one percent of the population.<\/p>\n<p>Muslims are the second largest religious group in the country, which has thirty mosques.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Source: On Islam<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EDINBURGH \u2013 Setting up a unique model, a Scottish mosque has opened the doors of its restaurant, planned to serve Muslim worshippers, to welcome non-Muslim visitors too after 9\/11 attacks,&hellip; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":1757,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[27],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1758","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-muslims-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
