When we want to talk about Islam as a way of life, it is a very difficult task<\/strong>
especially in the West because o f several misconceptions and stereotypes that<\/strong>
are prevalent about Islam and Muslims.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

One of the surprising facts for most non-Muslims is that Islam has over 975<\/strong>
million followers all over the world. Islam has a revelation, a holy book, called<\/strong>
the Qur\u2019an which was revealed to the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him,<\/strong>
about fourteen hundred years ago. The Qur\u2019an is the last and final revelation<\/strong>
until the end of human existence on earth.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When we talk about Islam or Christianity, we should not consider some<\/strong>
Muslims \u2018 and Christians\u2019 wrongdoing as a way to judge Islam or Christianity.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As far as scripture goes, let us see what Dr. Maurice Bucailie said in his<\/strong>
book The Bible, the Qur\u2019an and Science, which was published by the<\/strong>
American Trust Publications 1979:<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to its undisputed authenticity, the text of the Qur\u2019an holds a<\/strong><\/em>
unique place among the books of Revelation, shared neither by the Old<\/em>
nor the New Testament. In the first two sections of this work, a review<\/em>
was made of the alterations undergone by the Old Testament and the<\/em>
Gospels before they were handed down to us in the form we know today.<\/em>
The same is not true for the Qur\u2019an for the simple reason that It was<\/em>
written down at the time of the prophet\u201d.<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Somebod1y with a counter argument might ask, “How would I know that<\/strong>
the Qur\u2019an is a revelation from Allah? Do you have any evidence?\u2019<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I have evidence that the Qur\u2019an is a revelation from Allah and this evidence<\/strong>
is presented in the next few pages. When the revelation of the Qur\u2019an<\/strong>
commenced in 622 A.D., it was a linguistic miracle. The Quran has a challenge<\/strong>
in it. The challenge is for anybody to produce some thing like or similar to the<\/strong>
Qur\u2019an.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This challenge was presented in the Qur\u2019an in Sura No.17, Veise No.88<\/strong>
which is translated as follows:<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSay : If the whole of mankind and Jinn were together to<\/strong><\/em>
produce the like of this Qur\u2019an, they could not produce the like<\/em>
thereof, even if they back up each other with help and<\/em>
support.\u201d<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Years passed and nobody was able to meet the challenge. Later (after<\/strong><\/em>
several years) the challenge in the Qur\u2019an was eased asking for anyone<\/em>
to produce even ten Suras like those in it. This was in the Quran in Sum<\/em>
No. 11, Verse no. 13 which is translated as follows:<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOr they may say, \u201cHe forged it\u201d Say, \u201cBring ye then ten<\/strong><\/em>
Suras forged, like unto it, and call (to your aid) whomsoever<\/em>
ye can, other than Allah! If ye speak the truth\u201d<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Again years passed and nobody was able to successfully meet the<\/strong>
challenge. Later the challenge was eased for the second time to produce<\/strong>
one Sura like or similar to the Suras in the Qur’an.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The challenge (to anyone) to produce one Sura was presented in the<\/strong>
Qur\u2019an in more than a Sura, one of them was in Sura No. 2, Verse No. 23 which<\/strong>
is translated as follows:<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

” And If ye are in doubt as to what We have revealed from<\/strong><\/em>
time to time to Our servant, then produce a Sura like<\/em>
thereunto; and call your witnesses or helpers besides Allah, if<\/em>
what you say is true. “<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Since then more than fourteen hundred years have passed, and nobody<\/strong>
has been able to meet the challenge, and nobody will, because the<\/strong>
Qur\u2019an is the only existing book containing the word of Allah which no man<\/strong>
can match or imitate. The most eloquent people in the Arabic language spent<\/strong>
years going over and searching the Qur\u2019an, trying to find any weak or<\/strong>
Inadequate word or sentence, but they could not. They even went further, trying<\/strong>
to find a way to substitute a word or a sentence in the Qur’an, hoping to convey<\/strong>
a similar meaning as the original one, but they failed to do so.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As a result of this, many people, especially linguists, throughout the last<\/strong>
fourteen hundred years believed in the Qur\u2019an as a revelation beyond<\/strong>
any human capacity.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the beginning of the modern ages, some non-Muslims argued that the<\/strong>
appreciation of the Arabic language has declined even among the native<\/strong>
speakers themselves, and that most of the non-Muslims cannot speak Arabic.<\/strong>
They conclude that the Qur’an will not stay till the end of the human existence<\/strong>
on earth as a miracle.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This is not a valid argument because, there are still millions of people all<\/strong>
over the world who have a very good command of the Arabic language and<\/strong>
could appreciate the linguistic miracle of the Qur\u2019an But the Quran has<\/strong>
something else for the modem ages. Some people have noticed that there are<\/strong>
many facts about the science of astronomy, human reproduction and other<\/strong>
scientific fields in the Qur\u2019an.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Modem scientists have been amazed by the accuracy of scientific<\/strong>
information presented in the Quran. Some people wrote books about this<\/strong>
phenomenon which attracted the attention of many people in the<\/strong>
west-both Muslims and Non-Muslims.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

One of these books is a specialized book in embryology entitled The<\/strong>
Developing Human by Dr.Keith L. Moore, published by W.B. Saunders,<\/strong>
1982. In the third edition of this book, Dr. Moore said:<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is cited in the Koran, the holy book of the Muslims, that<\/strong><\/em>
human beings are produced from a mixture of secretions from<\/em>
the male and the female. Several references are made to the<\/em>
creation of a human being from a sperm drop and it is also<\/em>
suggested that the resulting organism settles in the woman<\/em>
like a seed, six days after its beginning.<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(The human blastocyst begins to implant about six days after<\/strong><\/em>
fertilization.) The Koran, (and prophet saying), also states<\/em>
that the sperm drop develops \u201cinto a clot of congealed blood\u201d<\/em>
(an implanted blastocyst or a spontaneously aborted<\/em>
conceptus would resemble a blood clot.)<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Reference is also made to the leech-like<\/strong><\/em>
appearance of the Embryo …”<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This was part of what. Dr. Moore wrote in his <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

book Later, after more research and study of the Qur\u2019anic terms used to<\/strong>
describe the development of the embryo in the mother\u2019s womb and<\/strong>
other related descriptions, Dr. Moore found that the Qur\u2019anic terms and<\/strong>
statements are amazing in their scientific accuracy.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, Dr. \u2018Moore decided to add a chapter to the next edition of his<\/strong>
book to discuss the scientific accuracy of the Qur\u2019anic version, which<\/strong>
was revealed fourteen hundred years ago. In the seventh Saudi Medical<\/strong>
Meeting, Dr. Moore wrote a paper about Human Embryology in the<\/strong>
Qur’an and the Hadith. He said in the paper 1 was amazed at the<\/strong>
scientific accuracy of these statements (in the Qur\u2019an), which were<\/strong>
made in the 7th century A.D.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Now the question Is: if the Qur’an describes these scientific facts with<\/strong>
great accuracy, how, could\u2019 it be a human work? Let us see what Dr.<\/strong>
Maurice Bucaille said after he had read the Qur\u2019an:<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy first goal was to read the Qur\u2019an and to make a sentence<\/strong><\/em>
by sentence analysis of it… my approach was to pay special<\/em>
attention to the description of numerous natural phenomena<\/em>
given in the Qur\u2019an; the highly accurate nature of certain<\/em>
details referring to them in the Book, which was only apparent<\/em>
in the original, struck me\u2019 by the fact that they were in<\/em>
keeping with present-day ideas although a man living at the<\/em>
time of Muhammad couldn’t have suspected this at\u2019 all… what<\/em>
initially strikes the reader confronted for the first time with a<\/em>
text of this kind is the sheer abundance of subjects<\/em>
discussed.., where as monumental errors are to be found in<\/em>
the Bible I could not find a single error in the Qur\u2019an. I had to<\/em>
stop and ask myself:<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

if a man was the author of the Qur\u2019an how could he have<\/strong><\/em>
written facts in the seventh century A.D. that today are<\/em>
shown to be in keeping with modern scientific knowledge?…<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What human explanation can there be to this observation? In<\/strong><\/em>
my opinion there is no explanation; there is no special reason<\/em>
why an inhabitant of the Arabian Peninsula should have had<\/em>
scientific knowledge on certain subjects that was ten<\/em>
centuries ahead…It is an established fact that at the time of<\/em>
the Qur\u2019anic Revelation, i.e. within a period of roughly twenty<\/em>
three years straddling Hegira (622 A.D.), scientific knowledge<\/em>
had not progressed for centuries and the period of activity in<\/em>
Islamic civilization, with its accompanying scientific upsurge,<\/em>
came after the close of the Qur\u2019anic revelation.\u201d<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to what Dr. Bucaille said, there are more examples from<\/strong>
different scientific fields other than embryology.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When I searched the Qur\u2019an for verses which refer to scientific facts, I<\/strong>
found a large number of such verses. I will try to give as many examples as the<\/strong>
space permits.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Qur\u2019an states several facts about astronomy which were discovered<\/strong>
in the late twentieth century. One of these facts is about the expansion<\/strong>
of the universe. Let us see what Dr. Bucaille said about that:<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The expansion of the universe is the most<\/strong><\/em>
imposing discovery of modern science today it is a<\/em>
firmly established concept and the only debate<\/em>
centers around the way this is taking place.<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It was first suggested by the general theory of relativity and is backed<\/strong><\/em>
up by physics in the examination of the<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

galactic spectrum; the regular movement towards<\/strong><\/em>
the red section of their spectrum may be explained<\/em>
by the distancing of one galaxy from another.<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Thus the size of the Universe is probably<\/strong><\/em>
constantly increasing and this increase will become<\/em>
bigger the further away the galaxies are from us.<\/em>
The speeds at which these celestial bodies are<\/em>
moving may, in the course of this perpetual<\/em>
expansion, go from fractions of the speed of light<\/em>
to speeds faster than this.<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The following Verse of the Qur’an Sura 51, verse 47 where God is speaking,<\/strong><\/em>
may perhaps be compared with modern ideas;<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe heaven, We have built it with power. Verily We are expanding it.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHeaven\u201d is the translation of the word \u201csama\u201d<\/strong><\/em>
and this is exactly the extraterrestrial world that is<\/em>
meant. \u201cWe are. expanding it\u201d is the translation of<\/em>
the plural present participle\u201d musi\u2019una\u201d of the verb<\/em>
\u201caus’a\u201d a meaning” to make wider\u201d, more<\/em>
spacious, to extend, to expand.\u201d<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Another example from a different scientific field is about the living things<\/strong>
in general which we can find in more than one verse in the Qur\u2019an. For<\/strong>
example Sura 21, Verse 30 was chosen by Dr. Bucaille to present how the<\/strong>
Qur\u2019an talked about these scientific facts. The Verse is translated as follows:<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth<\/strong><\/em>
were joined together, then We clove them asunder and We<\/em>
got every living thing out of the water. Will they then not<\/em>
believe? \u201d<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The notion of \u201cgetting something out of something\u201d does not give rise to<\/strong><\/em>
any doubts. The phrase can equally mean that every living thing was<\/em>
made of water (as its essential component) or that every living thing<\/em>
originated in water. The two possible meanings are strictly in accordance<\/em>
with scientific data. Life is in fact of aquatic origin and water is the major<\/em>
component of all living cells. Without water, life is not possible. When the<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


possibility of life on another planet is discussed, the first question is<\/em>
always: does it contain a sufficient quantity of water to support life?<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

From the Animal Kingdom there are so many facts stated in the Qur\u2019an.<\/strong>
One of these facts is about the source of the constituents of animal milk<\/strong>
which has been described in the Qur\u2019an fourteen hundred years before.<\/strong>
It has been understood only in recent times. Let us see how Dr. Bucaille<\/strong>
explained that when he made comments on Sura 16,Verse 66 which is<\/strong>
translated as follows:<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c Verily, in cattle there is a lesson for you. We give you to<\/strong><\/em>
drink of what is inside their bodies, coming from a conjunction<\/em>
between the contents of the intestine and the blood, a milk<\/em>
pure and pleasant for those who drink it.\u201d<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFrom a scientific point of view, physiological notions must be called<\/strong><\/em>
upon to grasp the meaning of this verse.<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The substances that ensure the general nutrition of the body come from<\/strong><\/em>
chemical transformations which occur along the length of the digestive<\/em>
tract. These substances come from the contents of the intestine. On<\/em>
arrival in the intestine at the appropriate stage of chemical<\/em>
transformation, they pass through its wall and towards the systematic<\/em>
circulation.<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This passage is effected in two ways: either directly, by what are called the<\/strong><\/em>
\u2018lymphatic vessels\u2019, or indirectly, by the portal circulation.<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This conducts them first to the liver, where they undergo alterations, and<\/strong><\/em>
from here they then emerge to join the systematic circulation. In this<\/em>
way everything passes through the bloodstream..<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The constituents of milk are secreted by the mammary glands.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

These are nourished, as it were, by the product of food digestion brought<\/strong><\/em>
to them via the bloodstream. Blood therefore plays the role of collector<\/em>
and conductor of what has been extracted from food, and it brings<\/em>
nutrition to the mammary glands, the producers of milk, as it does to any<\/em>
other organ. Here the initial process which sets everything else in motion<\/em>
is the bringing together of the contents of the intestine and blood, at the<\/em>
level of the intestinal wall itself. This very precise concept is the result of<\/em>
the discoveries made in the chemistry and physiology of the digestive<\/em>
system. It was totally unknown at the time of the Prophet Muhammad<\/em>
and has been understood only in recent times. The discovery of the<\/em>
circulation of the blood, was made by Harvey roughly ten centuries after.<\/em>
The Qur\u2019anic Revelation.<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I consider that the existence in the Qur\u2019an of the verse referring to these<\/strong><\/em>
concepts can have no human explanation on account of the period in<\/em>
which they were formulated.\u201d<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The last example I would cite from Dr. Bucaille\u2019s book is what I consider a<\/strong><\/em>
very interesting one, because this example illustrates where the Qur\u2019an<\/em>
showed the people facts that have not even been discovered without the<\/em>
help of the information given in the Qur\u2019an. This example is about the<\/em>
story of the Pharaoh and Noses which was presented in the Qur\u2019an in<\/em>
more than one Sura.<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Verses which inspire Dr. Bucaille to do the research around this<\/strong><\/em>
incident are in Sura 10, Verses 90 to 92, which means as follows:<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe (Allah) took children of Israel across the sea. Pharaoh<\/strong><\/em>
with his hosts pursued them in rebellion and hostility till,<\/em>
when the fact of his drowning overtook him he said: I believe<\/em>
there is no True God except the God in whom the Children 0]<\/em>
Israel believe. I am of those who submit themselves to Him.<\/em>
(It was said to him)\u2019 Now! Thou has rebelled and caused<\/em>
depravity: This day We save thee in thy body so that thou<\/em>
mayest be a sign for those who come after thee\u2019 But verily,<\/em>
many among mankind are heedless of Our signs.<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This is what the Holy Qur\u2019an said about the story of Moses and the<\/strong>
Pharaoh and the sign Allah left for the people who come after the<\/strong>
Pharaoh to see who has a revelation from Allah and who does not have.<\/strong>
Let us hear from Dr. Bucaille how he conducted research to verify this<\/strong>
Qur\u2019anic story:<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn June 1975, the Egyptian high authorities very<\/strong>
kindly allowed me to examine the parts of the<\/strong>
Pharaoh\u2019s body that had been covered until then.<\/strong>
They also allowed me to take photographs…<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What may already be derived from this<\/strong>
examination is the discovery of multiple lesions of<\/strong>
the bones with broad lacunae, some of which may<\/strong>
have been mortal although it is not yet possible to<\/strong>
ascertain whether some of them occurred before<\/strong>
or after the Pharaoh\u2019s death. He most probably<\/strong>
died either from drowning, according to the<\/strong>
scriptural narrations, or from very violent shocks<\/strong>
preceding the moment when he was drowned or<\/strong>
both at once.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The connection of these lesions with the<\/strong><\/em>
deterioration whose sources have been mentioned<\/em>
above renders the correct preservation of the<\/em>
mummy of the Pharaoh somewhat problematical,<\/em>
unless precautionary and restorative measures<\/em>
are not taken very soon. These measures should<\/em>
ensure that the only concrete evidence which we<\/em>
still possess today concerning the death, of the<\/em>
Pharaoh of the Exodus and the rescue of his body,<\/em>
willed by God; does not disappear with the<\/em>
passage of time.<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is always desirable for man to apply himself to<\/strong><\/em>
the preservation of relics of his history, but here<\/em>
we have something which goes beyond that: it is<\/em>
the material presence of the mummified body of<\/em>
the man. who knew Moses, resisted his pleas,<\/em>
pursued him as he took flight and lost his life in the<\/em>
process. His earthly remains were saved by the<\/em>

man, as it is written in the Qur\u2019an.<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Those who seek among modern data for proof of the veracity<\/strong><\/em>
of the Holy Scriptures will find a magnificent illustration of the<\/em>
verses of the Qur\u2019an dealing with the Pharaoh\u2019s body by<\/em>
visiting the Royal Mummies Room of the Egyptian Museum,<\/em>
Cairo!\u201d<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

These are a few examples just to illustrate what I am talking about in<\/strong>
this booklet. There are over a hundred of these examples in several<\/strong>
scientific fields in the Quran which all have been proven to be<\/strong>
scientifically true; in this Book which was revealed fourteen hundred<\/strong>
years ago. Anybody who would like to examine more of these concepts<\/strong>
could read the Qur\u2019an and find out for himself or, an interested person<\/strong>
could get Dr. Bucaille\u2019s book The Bible The Qur\u2019an and Science, which is<\/strong>
available in bookstores and check the accuracy of what he referred to.<\/strong>
Not only Dr. Bucaille and Dr. Moore, but many scholars have researched<\/strong>
these concepts and a lot of this research was presented on September<\/strong>
23rd, 1985 in the conference which was held in Cairo under the title of<\/strong>
The Scientific Concepts in the Qur\u2019an.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Severa1 papers were presented at the conference. One of the most<\/strong>
interesting papers was from Dr. T.V. persuade, a professor at the<\/strong>
University of Manitoba, Canada, about human reproduction. Another<\/strong>
interesting paper was presented by Dr. Marshal Johnson Ph.D., the<\/strong>
Director of Daniel Baugh Institute, Philadelphia, U.S.A., also about<\/strong>
embryology in the Qur\u2019an. Dr. Johnson said at the conference that he<\/strong>
started to use the Qur\u2019anic terms in teaching embryology to his students<\/strong>
because they were more accurate and easier to learn than the terms in<\/strong>
textbooks.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Arthur Elson from the City University in London,<\/strong>
U.K., stated that he was amazed by the scientific<\/strong>
accuracy of the statements which had been made<\/strong>
in the Qur\u2019an. He had no doubt in his mind that<\/strong>
these were not human words because these facts<\/strong>
had lust been discovered recently.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I would like to quote a Verse from the Qur\u2019an which may sum up the<\/strong>
purpose of having these scientific facts in the Quran as signs for the<\/strong>
people.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The verse is from Sura 41, Verse 53 which is translated as follows:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

” We (Allah) will show them (the unbe lievers) Our signs in<\/strong><\/em>
the farthest regions, and within their own selves until it<\/em>
becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth.\u201d<\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What is the Qur’an all about ?<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Qur’an is written in beautiful prose that continues to be marvelled by<\/strong>
the experts of the Arabic language. But it is not merely a literary<\/strong>
masterpiece. <\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Qur’an contains scientific facts and explanations that fascinate<\/strong>
scientists of all fields. But it Is not an encyclopedia of science.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Quran mentions stories of people and places in the past with vivid<\/strong>
detail. But it is not merely a book of history.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So what is Qur’an ?<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Qur’an is a revelation from the Creator of this universe to all human<\/strong>
beings.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Its most important message is the Unity of God – that there is only One<\/strong>
Supreme Being who has no partners and is not dependent on anyone or<\/strong>
anything. He is the Creator of everything and the whole universe is in His<\/strong>
control. He is the only One worthy of being worshipped.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is impossible for the created to fully comprehend the Creator – so the<\/strong>
Qur’an makes us aware of Him by mentioning His Attributes. He is the<\/strong>
most Merciful, the Loving, the Majestic, the Oft-Forgiving. The name that<\/strong>
He has chosen for Himself is Allah.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In His infinite mercy, Allah has not left mankind to wander searching for<\/strong>
the correct path. He has revealed the Qur’an which includes a code for<\/strong>
all people to follow. Islam is not just a set of beliefs. It is a complete way<\/strong>
of life which covers all spheres of human activity – the social, economic,<\/strong>
political, educational as well as the spiritual. Islam enjoins good<\/strong>
manners for every occasion and stresses treating people, particularly<\/strong>
relatives and neighbors, with kindness. The family enjoys a high status<\/strong>
in Islam – it is viewed as the nucleus of society.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Allah has also sent messengers to guide mankind to the truth and to be<\/strong>
an example for others to emulate. Stories of these messengers starting<\/strong>
from Adam and including those of Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus, and<\/strong>
ending with Muhammad <\/strong>( may peace be upon them all )<\/em> are found in the<\/strong>
Qur’an.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

ThiS final revelation from Allah to mankind has been safeguarded from<\/strong>
any alteration. Since the Qur’an has been preserved in its original Arabic<\/strong>
it has not lost any meaning in translation to another language. Millions of<\/strong>
people from all parts of the world have memorized the complete Qur’an.<\/strong>
So even if all printed copies of the Qur’an were destroyed it would<\/strong>
continue to live in the hearts of these people.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What do Muslims believe?<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There is only one God, Allah, who alone is worthy of being worshipped.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mankind has been guided at various times by the messengers of Allah of<\/strong>
whom the most prominent were Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and<\/strong>
Muhammad. The final message was sent to the last prophet,<\/strong>
Muhammad, which replaces all previous messages. None of the prophets<\/strong>
claimed to be god or part-god – they were human and were obedient to<\/strong>
Allah.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, I want to inform you that Islam is the universal message of Allah<\/strong>
to all mankind and prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the last<\/strong>
and final messenger of Allah. Therefore, Allah will not accept any way of<\/strong>
life except Islam. He said in the Gracious Qur\u2019an which is translated as<\/strong>
follows:<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

” And any one who chooses a way of life other than Islam, it will not be<\/strong>
accepted from him and in the hereafter he will be one of the losers. “<\/strong>
(3:85)<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
