T<\/strong>here are three categories of Tawh\u00eed<\/em> (the Oneness of God)<\/span> that we must explain very clearly to the non-Muslims.\u00a0 First is Tawh\u00eed Ar-Ruboobeeyah <\/em>(Oneness of All\u00e2h\u2019s<\/em> Divinity or All\u00e2h I as the Only God and Creator).<\/span> All\u00e2h I is the Only Rabb<\/em>, the Creator, the Sovereign, the Sustainer, the Provider, and Manager of the whole mankind in all affairs.\u00a0 Second is Tawh\u00eed Al-Ulooheeyah or Tawh\u00eed Al-Ibaadah <\/em>(All\u00e2h I is the Only One worthy of our worship)<\/span>.\u00a0 No one deserves true worship but All\u00e2h. All\u00e2h I created the whole mankind and the jinn to worship Him Alone (51:56). Worship in Isl\u00e2m is a comprehensive term. Everything we do in accordance with All\u00e2h\u2019s<\/em> Law is an act of worship.\u00a0 Such worship must be done sincerely for the pleasure of All\u00e2h I alone. Third is Tawh\u00eed<\/em> Al-Asmaa wa As-Sif\u00e2t<\/em> (All\u00e2h Alone deserves the most Magnificent Names and Attributes).<\/span> All praises belong to All\u00e2h I.\u00a0 No one shares in any of His beautiful Names and Attributes, which are found in the Qur\u2019\u00e2n and Ah\u00e2d\u00eeth<\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Of the three categories of Tawh\u00eed,<\/em> we must give emphasis on the Tawh\u00eed Al-Ulooheeyah or Tawh\u00eed Al-Ib\u00e2dah. <\/em>That is to invite or call people to worship All\u00e2h I alone.\u00a0 This is to guide them to the Truth so that they will fulfill their very purpose of existence\/creation in this world \u00be\u00a0\u00a0 i.e., to worship All\u00e2h I throughout their lives and therefore avoid committing the most sinful of all sins, which is Shirk<\/em> (associating partners with All\u00e2h I).<\/span> All\u00e2h the Most High tells us:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI have created not the jinn and men except that they should worship Me (Alone)<\/span>. I seek not any provision from them nor do I ask that they should feed Me. Verily, All\u00e2h is the All-Provider, Owner of Power, the Most Strong.\u201d\u00a0 (51:56-58)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSo glorify the praises of your Rabb and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him)<\/span>.\u00a0 And worship your Rabb until there comes unto you the Hour that is certain (i.e., death).\u201d<\/span> (15:98-99)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAll\u00e2h forgives not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgives anything else, to whom He pleases; to set up partners with All\u00e2h is to devise a sin most heinous indeed.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (4:48)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To guide mankind to Tawh\u00eed Al-Ulooheeyah, <\/em>All\u00e2h the Most Gracious, Most Merciful sent prophets and messengers to every nation.\u00a0 We read in the Qur\u2019\u00e2n:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd verily, We have sent among every nation a messenger (proclaiming)<\/span>: \u2018Worship All\u00e2h (alone) and avoid false deities.\u2019\u2026\u201d\u00a0 (16:36)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd We did not send any messenger before you (O Muhammad) except that We inspired him (to proclaim) that none has the right to be worshipped except Me (All\u00e2h), so worship Me (Alone).\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 (21:25)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Prophet r,<\/strong> just like other prophets and messengers of All\u00e2h I before him [e.g., <\/strong>Noah (7:59 and 23:23); Abraham (2: 257 and 6: 80); Jesus Christ, the son of Mary (5: 72)] invited people to the worship of All\u00e2h I.\u00a0 All\u00e2h the Exalted tells us:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSay\u00a0 (O Muhammad)<\/span>: \u2018I am but a man like yourselves, (but)<\/span> the inspiration has come to me, that your God is One God: whoever expects to meet His Rabb, let him work righteousness, and in the worship of his Rabb, admit no one as partner.\u201d\u00a0 (18:110)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In line with the above Isl\u00e2mic injunctions, it is imperative that we Du\u2019at<\/em> must invite non-Muslims to Tawh\u00eed. <\/em> We must call those who worship false deities as well as those who associate partners with All\u00e2h <\/em>I and the atheists to Tawh\u00eed <\/em>for <\/em>the following reasons:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1<\/span>.\u00a0 We must invite or call non-Muslims (e.g., Christians)<\/span> to worship All\u00e2h I alone so that they will fulfill their very purpose of existence\/creation in this world \u00a0\u00a0\u00be ito worshi<\/em>p All\u00e2h I throughout their lives. All\u00e2h the Most High says:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2.<\/span> To invite non-Muslims to Tawh\u00eed <\/em>is to guide them to Isl\u00e2m, the right religion and therefore refrain themselves from committing the most sinful of all sins, which is Shirk<\/em> (associating partners with All\u00e2h I)<\/span>.\u00a0 All\u00e2h the Almighty tells us in His Book:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou do not worship besides Him but only names which you have named (forged)<\/span>, you and your fathers, for which All\u00e2h has sent down no authority. The Command is for none but for All\u00e2h. He has commanded that you worship none but Him, that is the right religion, but most men know not.\u201d\u00a0 (12:40)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAll\u00e2h forgives not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgives anything else, to whom He pleases; to set up partners with All\u00e2h is to devise a sin most heinous indeed.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (4:48)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3<\/span>. If the non-Muslims will believe in the Oneness of All\u00e2h I and will do righteous deeds, they will be in the eternal paradise and hence attain supreme success.\u00a0 They will be saved from the eternal chastisement in the Hell-Fire, which All\u00e2h I has prepared for those who disbelieve in His Oneness.\u00a0 All\u00e2h the Almighty says:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSo those who believed (in the Oneness of All\u00e2h)<\/span> and did righteous deeds will be in the Gardens of Delight (Paradise).\u201d<\/span> (22:56)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut those who disbelieve and belie our Ayaat (proofs, verses, etc.):<\/span> such are the dwellers of the Fire, they shall abide therein forever.\u201d\u00a0 (2:39)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4<\/span>. We have to invite non-Muslims to Tawh\u00eed<\/em> especially Tawh\u00eed Al-Ulooheeyah<\/em> (to sincerely worship All\u00e2h as the only God worthy to be worshipped) <\/em>because it <\/em>was the message conveyed by all the prophets and messengers of\u00a0 All\u00e2h <\/em>I.\u00a0 All\u00e2h the Most Gracious, Most Merciful sent prophets and messengers to every nation to proclaim that none has the right to be worshipped except Him.\u00a0 We read in the Qur\u2019\u00e2n:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5.<\/span> Inviting non-Muslims to Tawh\u00eed<\/em> is a message that is supreme. This is a commandment from All\u00e2h I to His Messenger r, which we must also follow as stated in the following Ay\u00e2t:<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSay (O Muhammad)<\/span>: \u2018Truly am I a Warner: no god is there but the One All\u00e2h Supreme and Irresistible, the Rabb (Sustainer) <\/span>of the heavens and the earth and all between Exalted in Might Able to enforce His will forgiving again and again.\u2019\u00a0 Say: \u2018That is a message supreme (above all) from which you do turn away!\u2019\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 (38:65-68)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSay\u00a0 (O Muhammad)<\/span>: \u2018I am but a man like yourselves, (but) the inspiration has come to me, that your God is One God: whoever expects to meet His Rabb, let him work righteousness, and in the worship of his Rabb, admit no one as partner.\u2019\u201d\u00a0 (18:110)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is imperative that we Du\u2019at <\/em>must invite non-Muslims to Tawh\u00eed<\/em> as it is the Sunnah<\/em> of All\u00e2h\u2019s <\/em>Messenger r. In fact, the first thing he enjoined one of his Companions, which we must also follow, was to invite people to worship All\u00e2h I.\u00a0 The following authentic Had\u00eeth<\/em> tells us:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ibn Abbas\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 narrated that when All\u00e2h\u2019s Messengerr sent Muadh to Yemen, he said (to him),\u00a0 \u201cYou are going to People of the Book. First of all invite them to worship All\u00e2h (Alone) and when they come to know All\u00e2h, inform them that All\u00e2h has enjoined on them, five prayers in every day and night; and if they start offering these prayers, inform them that All\u00e2h has enjoined on them, the Zakat. And it is to be taken from the rich amongst them and given to the poor amongst them; and if they obey you in that, take Zakat from them and avoid (don’t take) the best property of the people as Zakat.\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0(Bukhari\u00a0 2\/537)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Isl\u00e2mic History tells us that for ten years, the Prophet r invited the non-believers in Makkah to Tawh\u00eed<\/span><\/strong> (to worship no other God but All\u00e2h I).<\/span> While in Makkah, he was raised to Heaven where he was given the divine commandment to institutionalize the five obligatory daily prayers <\/em>(Salaat<\/em>)<\/strong>.\u00a0 He r performed the prayers in Makkah for three years.\u00a0 Then, he was commanded to migrate to Madinah to build the first Isl\u00e2mic State \u00be\u00a0\u00a0 to implement Isl\u00e2m in its complete and purest way.\u00a0 This shows how the Prophet r stressed the need to give priority to Tawh\u00eed,<\/strong> <\/em>which we must also follow in our Da\u2019wah<\/strong>. <\/em> This means to explain to non-Muslims the concept and rationality of the absolute oneness of All\u00e2h and why we need to worship Him, before explaining other pillars of Isl\u00e2m as well as the articles and other teachings of the True and Right Religion.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
