{"id":662,"date":"2012-04-19T08:03:53","date_gmt":"2012-04-19T08:03:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/rs\/en\/k-james-ex-christian-usa\/"},"modified":"2012-04-19T08:03:53","modified_gmt":"2012-04-19T08:03:53","slug":"k-james-ex-christian-usa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/r-islam.com\/en\/k-james-ex-christian-usa\/","title":{"rendered":"K James, Ex-Christian, USA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">It all began back in the late 90\u2019s.\u00a0 I was a San Diego police officer and I had found myself at the desk.\u00a0 I had found myself in the middle of an internal affairs investigation.\u00a0 Of course these types of investigations seem to take forever; I had the fortune of working with another officer.\u00a0 After being around this for a few weeks, we had the opportunity to talk about various subjects.\u00a0 Never once speaking about Islam, although I knew this officer was Muslim.\u00a0 I knew this because we met during the month of Ramadan.\u00a0 So I saw firsthand the sacrifice\u2019s he would make during the day.\u00a0 I often thought to myself, \u201chow could he do this and why\u201d.\u00a0 As our time together continued I would see how he would interact with the public and other officers as well as superiors.\u00a0 On several occasions he would take his lunch break and go to the local mosque to pray.\u00a0 I was amazed that he would be back within the hour.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">I had always thought that going to church was an all-day affair, I had no idea what going to the mosque entailed.\u00a0 Becoming a police officer had always been a life\u2019s dream, so when I achieved this goal, I thought I was better than most.\u00a0 I looked down on regular people and even stopped associating with regular folk.\u00a0 As I spent more time with this officer, I began asking him different questions regarding Islam.\u00a0 I had no idea about the difference between true Islam and the \u201cNation of Islam\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">He was very patient with me and explained the differences between the two religions.\u00a0 He kept a Quran on the desk and I asked if I could read it.\u00a0 Of course he said \u201cyes\u201d and so began my journey.\u00a0 I grew up not really religious but my mom was a devote Baptist, so I had some idea of what religion was all about.\u00a0 However, I could never get my head around Jesus (peace be upon him) being God and God being Jesus and then a holy spirit mixed all in there for good measure.\u00a0 It seemed to me that people would only pray on Sundays, during Wednesday bible study and when they wanted something good to happen.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">So I began reading the Quran, not really knew what I was reading, but it seemed to make sense to me.\u00a0 It was very clear &#8211; not all mystical and mysterious.\u00a0 However this only pecked my interest.\u00a0 I was still brainwashed on what I had been taught for so long.\u00a0 For about ten more years I did my research on this thing called Islam.\u00a0 Subsequently I had to drop all my worldly things and move back to the East coast to take care of mother.\u00a0 I became obsessed with trying to become successful and taking care of an ailing mother.\u00a0 Taking care of her every need consumed so much of my time that I strayed away from my journey.\u00a0 However, every so often I would pick up the fact finding mission.\u00a0 I was trying so hard to find some fault with Islam.\u00a0 No matter how hard I tried, I could not find any such thing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Two very important things happened in the mid 00\u2019s.\u00a0 My mother passed away, God bless her soul, and that I succumbed to my journey and began believing in Islam.\u00a0 However, I had accepted it in my heart but I still had to take my <em>shahada<\/em>.\u00a0 This took a few more years to do.\u00a0 I said my shahadah in the year 2009. At this point in my life, I had the opportunity to move back to the West coast.\u00a0 After coming back to the west coast I quickly realized the woman I had spent so much time waiting for, was never going to change enough for us to have a life.\u00a0 I had gone through the most painful experience one could ever go through.\u00a0 It was then that I set out on my journey to truly follow Islam and start living my life for me and Allah.\u00a0 And I never looked back.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Allah works in mysterious and wondrous ways.\u00a0 \u00a0I had the unfortunate fate of having my leg amputated above the knee. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">This event is a life changing one in so many ways.\u00a0 After a three month stay at the local hospital, I was released and was fortunate to move in with a longtime friend.\u00a0 After a year of recuperating and learning my way as a one legged person, I ventured out on my own and began going to the local mosque.\u00a0 I met some really nice people who took me by the hand and started teaching me the proper way to pray etc..\u00a0 Being a handicapped person I do have certain restrictions and limitations.\u00a0 I was so worried that I would not be accepted, but so far so good.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Every day I learn something about this great religion.\u00a0 I hope my story leads others to Islam.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It all began back in the late 90\u2019s.\u00a0 I was a San Diego police officer and I had found myself at the desk.\u00a0 I had found myself in the middle&hellip; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":15,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[12],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-662","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-men-convert-to-islam"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
