It is quite easy to figure out if Jesus was God or not, the first and most obvious way of knowing whether Jesus was God is if he himself declared himself to be God, such as if he said “Yes, I am God, the Only true and One God, so Worship me”. That would have been a very effective way of ending the debate. However as we all know, such a text does not exist in the Bible, and Jesus never uttered such a statement. That in itself proves that Jesus is not God, yet we can explore further, and give more evidence that proves that he was not God.
There is another simple way of figuring out whether Jesus is God or not, and it is by identifying who God is, for instance when God is identified, who is he identified with? For instance when God is mentioned, is he identified as Horus, Hubal, or Jesus? For instance if you have a king, the king will be identified, such as the king is King Arthur.
Now the Bible does identify God, and what makes this interesting is that God is not identified as Jesus, rather Jesus is excluded from the identification! We read from Jesus himself:
After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:1-3)
So in the above Jesus identifies who the ONLY TRUE GOD is, and this God is identified as being the Father. Jesus cannot make himself any clearer; he refers to the Father as the only true God, which obviously excludes anyone else.
The Greek word that is used for only is monos and the Biblical Greek Lexicon defines the word as follows:
Alone (without a companion), forsaken, destitute of help, alone, only, merely (http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G3441&t=KJV)
Hence the word only means only! We Can find other references from the Bible which identify who God is, and this identification is not Jesus, as we read:
So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that an idol is nothing at all in the world and that there is no God but one. For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. (1 Corinthians 8:4-6)
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5)
Paul, an apostle sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ AND God the Father, who raised him from the dead? and all the brothers with me, To the churches in Galatia: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Galatians 1:1-5)
Praise be to the God and Father OF our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:3)
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the LORD, and that he had spoken these things unto her. (John 20:15-18)
So we have text after text identifying who God is, and Jesus is not included in that identification, rather he is excluded from it.
So in conclusion, if one is an honest truth seeker, and not brainwashed by the Trinity, one will have to conclude that Jesus is not God, rather there is only one true God, and that is the Father.
