What do Muslims believe ?

What’s Islam?
Islam is not a new religion, but the same truth that God revealed through all His prophets to all people. For a fifth of the world’s population, Islam is both a religion and a complete way of life. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness.

The Five Pillars of Islam
The Five Pillars of Islam are the framework of the Muslim’s life.  They are the testimony of faith, prayer, giving zakat (support of the needy), fasting during the month of Ramadan, and the pilgrimage to Makkah for those who are able.

Pillars of Faith

Muslims Believe in:

Muslims believe in One God:
Muslims believe in ONE GOD, Supreme and Eternal, Infinite and Mighty, Merciful and Compassionate, Creator and Provider. God has no father or mother, no son or daughter. None is equal to Him. He is God of all humankind, not of a special tribe or race.

Muslims believe in All Prophets:
Muslims believe in all the Messengers and Prophets of God without any distinction. All messengers were mortals, human beings, endowed with Divine revelations and appointed by God to teach mankind. The Holy Quran mentions the names of 25 messengers and prophets and states that there are others.

Muslims believe in Jesus, peace be upon him, as a prophet:

Muslims respect and revere Jesus (peace be upon him). They believe that He was born miraculously. They consider him one of the greatest of God’s messengers to mankind.

Muslims Believe in Angels:
Angels are a creation of God. They are purely spiritual and splendid beings that require no food or drink or sleep. They have no physical desires or material needs. Like other creations of God, Angels spend their time worshiping God. In contrast to human beings, Angels do not have free Will – they only obey God and do not have the ability to disobey Him. Each Angel is charged with a certain duty. Angels cannot be seen by the naked eyes

What’s the Qur’an?
Muslims believe that the Qur’an is the word of God Almighty: a complete record of the exact words revealed by God through the Archangel Gabriel to Prophet Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of God be upon him). The Qur’an comprehends the complete code for the Muslims to live a good, chaste, abundant and rewarding life in obedience to the commandments of Allah, in this life and to gain salvation in the next.

Who is Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him?
Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, is a central figure in Islam. He revealed the words of the Quran, Islam’s holy book, and lived Islam as an example for Muslims to follow. Prophet Muhammad was the last in a series of prophets, that Allah sent to teach monotheism.

Judgment Day in Islam:
Like Christians, Muslims believe that the present life is only a trial preparation for the next realm of existence.  This life is a test for each individual for the life after death.  A day will come when the whole universe will be destroyed and the dead will be resurrected for judgment by God.  This day will be the beginning of a life that will never end.  On that day, all people will be rewarded by God according to their beliefs and deeds.
