Miracles du Coran: Part 9

Iron miracle

Iron is one of the elements mentioned in the Qur’an. In Surah Al-Hadid, it reads: « And we have brought down iron, where there is tremendous power, but also many benefits for the people. » (Quran 57:25)
Some may have thought that the Arabic word « Anzalna », which translates here as « Nazul » and which is used to speak of iron, in this verse, had a metaphorical meaning intended to suggest that iron was sent by God to benefit people. But when we take into account its literal meaning, which means « to physically descend from heaven » (because in the Qur’an, whenever this word is used, it is used literally, like rain or revelation coming down from heaven), we realize that the verse refers to an important scientific miracle. Because recent astronomical discoveries tell us that the iron on Earth comes from giant stars in outer space. [1] In fact, not only the iron on Earth, but the iron found throughout the solar system, because the temperature of the sun does not allow iron to form. The surface temperature of the sun is 6000 ° C and a temperature of about 20 million ° C in its core. Iron can only be produced in stars much larger than the Sun, where the temperature reaches a few hundred million degrees Celsius. When the amount of iron exceeds a certain level in the star, it can no longer contain it; then it ends up exploding and becomes the so-called « nova » or « supernova ». It is these explosions that release iron into space. [2] A scientific publication, American Scientist, provides the following information on the subject:
« There is also evidence of ancient supernovae. High levels of iron 60 in marine sediments suggest that the supernova eruption occurred 90 light-years from the sun about 5 million years ago. Iron 60 is a radioactive isotope of iron formed during supernova explosions. It eventually disintegrates and has a half-life of 1.5 million years. The large presence of this isotope in a layer indicates the modern nuclear synthesis of elements not far away in space and their subsequent descent to Earth (possibly mixed with dust grains). »[3]

All this shows that iron did not form on Earth, but comes from supernovae. So he « descended » to the earth, as mentioned in the verse. Obviously, this fact was not known in the 7th century, when the Qur’an was revealed. However, it is mentioned in the Qur’an, the Word of God, which embraces everything in His infinite knowledge.
The fact that the verse speaks of iron in particular is surprising considering that these discoveries were made in the late 20th century. In his book « The Fate of Nature », the famous microbiologist Michael Denton emphasizes the importance of iron:
« Of all minerals, nothing is more important to life than iron. It is the accumulation of iron in the center of the star that leads to the explosion of the supernova and the subsequent dispersion of atoms necessary for life throughout the universe. It was the gravitational pull of iron atoms towards the center of the Earth, during the early stages of its development, that generated the heat that caused the initial chemical differentiation of the Earth, the release of gases from the primordial atmosphere, and eventually the formation of the hydrosphere. It is the molten iron in the center of the Earth that, like a giant dynamo, generates the Earth’s magnetic field which in turn leads to the appearance of Van Allen radiation belts that protect the Earth’s surface from the penetration of high-energy cosmic radiation and that keep the underlying ozone layer from destruction by cosmic rays …

« Without an iron atom, there would be no life dependent on carbon chemistry in the universe. No supernovae, no warming of the primordial earth, no atmosphere or hydrosphere. There will be no protective magnetic field, no Van Allen radiation belts, no ozone layer, no metal to make hemoglobin (in human blood) or to control oxygen reaction, and no oxidative metabolism.
« The interesting and close relationship between life and iron, between the red color of blood and the torment of a distant star, points not only to the importance of minerals in biology, but also to the vital centrality of the universe … [4] This explanation clearly indicates the importance of the iron atom. Paying special attention to iron in the Qur’an also emphasizes the importance of this element.
In addition, iron oxide molecules have recently been used in the treatment of cancer, with positive results. A team led by Dr. Andreas Jordan, from the Charité Hospital in Germany, has succeeded in destroying cancer cells with this new technology developed in the fight against cancer, that is, magnetic fluid hyperthermia. The technique was first tested on a 26-year-old man, Nicholas H., in whom no new cancer cells appeared in the three months following treatment.
This method of treatment can be summarized as follows:
1. A liquid containing iron oxide molecules is injected into the tumor using a syringe. These particles are spread in cancer cells. The fluid in question consists of thousands of millions of particles that are a thousand times smaller than blood cells and can easily travel through blood vessels. [5] 2. Then the patient is placed in a device with a strong magnetic field.
3. This magnetic field activates the iron molecules in the tumor. At this time, the temperature inside the tumor rises to 45 ° C.
4. Within minutes, cancer cells, unable to protect themselves from sudden heat, either weaken or destroy. Treatment is then followed by chemotherapy in order to completely destroy the tumor. [6] In this treatment, cancer cells are affected only by the magnetic field, since they are the only ones that contain iron oxide molecules. This technique is a major development in the treatment of this often fatal disease. Iron is also known as a remedy for anemia.
Now that we know the usefulness of iron in the treatment of these very widespread diseases, we can see in the light of the last words of verse 25 of Surah 57 of the Qur’an: « And we have revealed iron, which has tremendous strength, but also many benefits for people. » mieux.________________________________________Footnotes
